WARLOW is a quartet influenced by the classic grunge, noise rock and alternative sounds of the 90s as well as more recent shoegaze delivering an uncompromising style that combines a brutal wall of sound with soft, dreamy vocals. The physical experience of heavy rhythms, driving bass lines, and layers of guitars meets lyrical themes of emotional catharsis—a look inward, where health clashes with sickness, and comfort opposes pain.

 The members of WARLOW bring a broad range of artistic and technical expertise to the band: for example, Chris is the founder of the internationally renowned effects pedal brand JPTR FX, whose extreme sounds can also be heard on our EP ‘buried in dreams’, while Till, an experienced sound engineer and creator of Nova Pickups, contributed the perfected interplay of raw and clean sounds to the EP.

After many years in various other projects, WARLOW came together in its final lineup during the creation of the ‘buried in dreams’ EP. Frauke, who provided both vocals and drums for the EP, transitioned to the role of lead vocalist during production, while Till, an old friend and recordist, eventually took over on drums after recording. The instrumental tracks were recorded in-house under Till’s supervision.

For the vocal recording, Frauke and Till moved to Tiny Pond Studios in Hannover, where Till had been a long-time assistant. In this familiar setting, they could combine an optimal workflow with high-quality recording equipment, capturing the EP’s signature smooth vocals.

Alex Sickel, experienced owner and operator of Tiny Pond, took on the mixing and fully indulged his passion for 90s grunge productions before the project was sent for mastering to the renowned U.S.-based engineer Will Yip.
